Post-Implementation Review

A Post-Implementation Review is an assessment and review of the completed working solution. It should be performed after a period of live running, some time after the project is completed.

Purposes

Post-Implementation review is the most effective way to gather project management experience. Three main purposes are:

  • Estimate success level of the whole project including delivered levels of benefit, the extent to which it met its objectives and addressed the specific requirements as originally defined.
  • Evaluate efficiency of each structural unit that was involved in project implementation. This includes calculating time, resources and budget variances for every project subtask.
  • Find out possibilities to improve the company’s efficiency while implementing similar projects in the future. Usually these are organizational aspects like communication, project scheduling issues etc.
